John M. Spivey
Strategic vision, client relationships, project direction.
John is the founding partner and the first call. He runs the initial conversation with the CEO or President, leads the discovery sprint, sets project direction across every engagement, and remains the relationship owner from first meeting through expansion.
For 27 years he has run Spivey & Company, a strategic business creation and transformation firm in New Orleans. He founded his first start-up, Vention, Inc., at 25, growing it into one of the largest e-business application development shops in the southeast and earning recognition as a Top 40 Under 40 business leader by the Mississippi Business Journal. He has helped found multiple healthcare and technology ventures since. The skill is the same one he brings to Plainbox: look at a business honestly and find the place where the right technology, applied to the right problem, will move it forward.
He holds bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Mississippi and pursued doctoral studies at the University of Kansas.
Outside the work, John leads a weekly community group at his home for his church Redeemer Presbyterian. He and his wife, Olga, have been married for 36 years. They have raised four children together, two have passed away too soon. The other two live near them in New Orleans.
